Based on Les Tentures by the painter Francois Boucher (1703-1770). The original tapestries, of which the earliest sketches are recorded in 1758, were woven at the Royal Manufacture of Gobelins from 1765. At this time, Francois Boucher was the Superintendant of the manufacture. Faithful reflection of a gentle and refined time, this romantic scene, pictured in the medallion features an innocent outdoor entertainment of the 18th century. This charming composition is set against a beige damask background, called alentour and is gracefully adorned with flowery garlands and ribbons.
