Tapestry adapted from the wainscoting decorating the Salle des Buffets at the castle of Vaux-le-Viconte. This castle, built between 1656 and 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Superintendent of Finance for Louis XIV, was the masterwork of three gifted artists: the architect Louis Le Vau, Andre le Notre for the gardens, and Charles Le Brun for the interior decoration. On this arabesque setting, inspired by the loggia style of Raphael at the Vatican, one can see emblem of Fouquet, a squirrel.
